OUGD505 - Design Practice 2 - Studio Brief 01 - Micro-Genres of Music - Dollar Bills Development

I started thinking about how I could incorporate the celebrities who visited Studio 54 into the dollar bills, and thought about how I could have their faces on the dollar bills in place of Benjamin Franklin.

Celebrities who have visited;

-Michael Jackson
-Rod Stewart
-Andy Warhol
-Bianca Jagger
-Diana Ross
-Jack Nicholson
-Sylvester Stallone
-Gia Carangi
-Olivia Newton-John

The first person I chose to start with was Andy Warhol. I used an image of a hundred dollar bill to start with.

In order to cut the figure out, I started using the eraser tool to take out the white.

I managed to get the vast space of white gone but the smaller finer bits around his hair proved challenging.

I then tried a select and mask tool to get rid of the white areas around the hair.

I flipped the image round and used the eraser tool around the edge of the image so that it fit inside the oval.

I placed an adjustment layer yellow hue over the whole image in order for the photo took look part of the dollar bill.

I really wasn't happy with how this looked and found I was really struggling to get the proper effect whilst making it look really natural.

After a bit of further research online I came across a site that helped generate the dollar bill effect for you.

I much preferred this style and I felt it looked a lot more believable/professional so chose to go ahead with this technique for the rest of the celebrities.
