OUGD503 - Responsive - Starpack - Creating a Pattern

Following the label development, I started thinking about creating a pattern that could potentially be used on the label or even on the tin as a decorative feature.

The tin has to be able to be used for a secondary purpose, therefore contributing to sustainability. Having the tin covered in an attractive pattern could help make people more inclined to keep the tins for a future use.

I started looking at using the circular shapes I created earlier on for the logo.

I began experimenting with the circles and placing them in different formations, using layering and repeating techniques to create the designs.

In order to help imagine how the patterns could potentially appear on the packaging, I put them into a simple colour combination to help differentiate them from black and white lines.

Simply creating a pattern swatch out of the designs and placing them behind the basic label mock ups allowed me to see how they could work as a potential design. I did feel like the simpler patterns worked better as they prevented the designs from becoming too busy and kept it 'classy' as such.
