OUGD503 - Responsive - Starpack - Label Development

After deciding on the final shape for the tin, I decided to go back and develop the actual label for the tin.

I started off with a basic rectangular label that would be wrapped around the tin, with 3 'sides' to it;

-Front (logo/name)
-Ingredients
-Product Description

I chose to place the logo in the centre of the label, with the brand name directly above and the flavour of the product below. I felt this was the most visually 'flowing' way to view the information.

The product description I chose to have in the same typeface, Abuget, as the brand name in order to create a flow and link between.

The ingredients I chose to put in the secondary typeface, Baskerville Old Face, as they needed to be completely and properly legible.

After mocking up the first flavour I created the other two.

I placed all the text in copper, to get a feel for the finished product.

After viewing the three labels together, I decided I wasn't sure that the logo in the middle didn't look right - from further away it almost looked like three of the same flavour.
Following on from this, I chose to change the letter 'R' from the middle of the circle to the first letter of each of the flavours.

I took this to a group crit and the feedback was that this 100% looked better than the logo and made it easier to differentiate the flavours.

I also received some feedback that I could even add the second letter of each flavour, almost like in the periodic table. I tried this out and really liked how it looked, so chose to move forward with this.
