After deciding to use a washable ink for the coffee tin, I mocked up some final designs to demonstrate this idea.
The whole tin, including the lid, would be made from copper.

A white ink would coat the entire surface of the tin, minus the lid.

The ink would be 'blocked out' in the areas where text appeared, so that the copper tin was visible through the ink.



Once the tin was finished with, the user would simply wash it under a running tap and the water soluble ink would wash away leaving the plain copper tin behind.
An additional box was mocked up to demonstrate a tertiary layer of packaging if needed.
