OUGD603 - Baby Brand Collab - Initial Designs

Once we had decided on the final prints, myself and Abigail started thinking about the actual clothing company itself.

Because this was fictional, we needed to pick a brand name, logo, and general identity.

We both really loved the Swedish style when it comes to baby clothing/items, so this is something we wanted to work with.

Using Google translate, we came up with a few different potential names;

Liten = little
Foga = little/small
Sma = small
Fodd = born/birth

We really liked how 'Foga' looked - the two dots above the 'o' had that extra 'luxury' element. We also felt it would be nice to basically name the company 'small' - it was simple, yet effective.

Once decided on the name, we started some basic typeface exploration;

We were unsure whether to go with something more relaxed and quirky, or luxurious and decadent. Due to the Swedish background of the project, we felt it would have to be something quite minimalist.

Out of our initial choices, we decided that Geosans Light (2nd one down) was the most appropriate. After this was decided, we then looked for other similar typefaces;

We quite liked the idea of having no bar across the 'A' - quirky and different.

*playing around with different styles.

We felt that the best typeface was 'Neoteric'. It wasn't too thin or thick, and had quite a fun 'G'.

Playing around with different formats, erasing out the bar in the 'A'.

We felt that this was the best format, with the backwards and upside down G. The capitalized, sans-serif nature had a luxurious, premium feel, whilst the unique G added a quirky element.
