I started off my initial designs by looking at the outlines of the owls I found online.
I live traced the image and split it into two separate images - the outline and the infill.
I was going to try develop this a bit further but after seeing these two bits separately I decided that they were too detailed/complicated for a primary school.
I found another owl image, one that was a bit simpler than the previous. Again, I live traced this but I wasn't keen on the outline, but did think I would be able to do something with the infill part.
I used the paintbrush tool to 'draw out' the wing space, and then did the same with the eyes, beak and ears.
Initially I felt this was a good idea but once I saw the 'finished' article I instantly knew it didn't look right, and it definitely wasn't suitable for a primary school logo.
