Using an image I found online of kola nuts, I swatched some colours and used them as a palette for the logo.
I started experimenting with having the different colours in separate shapes to make up the nut.
Experimenting with two or three pieces. I thought the third piece looked a bit disjointed so wasn't too keen.

I also looked at having a 3D style effect but I very quickly realized this wasn't giving off the 'vibe' I wanted. I definitely wanted something a bit more slick.
After some feedback in a crit, it was decided that this was the best design. The colours are bright yet not too 'in your face' - they have a muted tone to them. The thick black line contrasts against the colours - you can tell that this is a kola nut, but it takes a more abstract approach.
