Final Sketch;
I added finer details in my final sketch, focusing on the outfit, ball and racket. I then scanned this image in and traced it in Illustrator.
Once scanned in, I began playing around with different colourways.
First I tried a more traditional approach, which I really liked but felt was quite 'flat'.
I then looked at other options such as having the lion's hair green, etc. The reason for this was that the brief stated there were 'no limitations' on the colour of the lion and to 'have fun'. I quite liked this as it added a humorous/fun element and was appropriate for the young audience.
Whilst I really liked the design and colourways, I just wasn't happy with it as something wasn't right. After some feedback from my peers, we decided that it was because the drawing didn't have any 'dimension' to it as such. To help solve this, I then used the brush tool to go around the drawing, adding shadows in certain places. This looked instantly better and really gave the mascot a more finished and rounded feel.
