We were set a task by Ben and Simon to draw 10 pictograms in a 2 minutes that represented our chosen word. The first things that came to mind for me when thinking of the word 'plump' were blobs and mounds of mass, so I included these in my quick sketches. I also included things such as a plumped up pillow, cake, doughnuts, stomachs, bums and snowmen (see fig 1 below).
fig1.We then had to draw our a visual representation of our word using a 3x3 grid and straight or diagonal lines only (see fig2 below).
fig2.After this, we wrote our word down with a few synonyms and passed the sheet along to a different person, who then drew their own visual representations of the word in a 5x5 box (see fig3 below).
fig3.Finally, the sheet was passed along again and someone had to draw the letter A as many times as possible in 2 minutes using your word as inspiration (see fig4 below).
fig4.Overall I found this task really useful as it helped me really visualise my word as an image, which in turn will help inform my type development. I really liked other people's interpretations of my word too, especially the pig ideas! I will definitely take these ideas forward and use them within my development.
