Following on from my ideas the other day, I decided to create a very basic initial full typeface using my first response. I also tried this out in both uppercase and lowercase to see how it looked in both.
I really like this idea and I thought it looked particularly nice as a full alphabet. I also sketched a filled in version to get a general idea of how this would look.
I also experimented by tracing over the Clarendon typeface exactly, changing one thing only - the serifs. I decided to make just the serifs 'plumper' to see how this differed from making the entire glyph plump (see image below).
I quite liked this effect and felt it was a more subtle approach to making the font 'plumper'. Next I would like to experiment by using a completely different typeface and seeing how this changes the idea.
